please recommend a counter

yea it's like this:
the counter checked if the date was today. if it was, it incremented that value with one. If not, it checked if that date (of the last count) was yesterday. If it was, it started a new value. If not... well, you saw that part.

Because i checked 'yesterday' with a simple day - 1 (in my case, 20010701 - 1 not = to 20010630 so error), it was giving errors. I kinda missed 5-6 days of stats. I got problems with some other stuff (for the pro version) but like i said, i'm on vacation...

1.01 is on the site, and it's even got upgrade instructions. Fool-proof, as usual. ( http://www.webmastersbeware.com/php/track0.php )

you mean a blank page called index.html with this:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" content="0;URL=http://www.pstar.f2s.com/index.php">

in the header - is this correct?

Also, where is the file .htaccess - in my root dir? I can't seem to find it with cuteFTP, I know it's hidden, grrr....help!

Yeah, but why a blank file? Put a link in the body and if Meta doesn't work they can at least click.

My .htaccess files have disappeared on f2s too. I know they are normally hidden on UNIX but I have always been able to see them with ftp so I thought it was depending on how your ftp app was set up - but I haven't changed a thing! Truly evil. I use ftp.exe (in c:\windows) to get rid of mine, but I still don't see them. In worst case one has to delete .htaccess in every directory and hope for another reaction than "the file not found". :p
