Its best to use MySQL, it has much more pros then cons when comparing with a flat file. Security, capabilities, etc.
Some people can not use MySQL or any other DB.
For instance, companies offer a person free hosting
with some limits and no access to a DB.
I have many clients who have issues with being stuck
with one server for the rest of their lives.
Take for instance Globat. If you have a DB on Globat
and you move to another server, you have to pay a person
to backup your DB and restore it on the new server.
Or you have to be so technically inclined that you
do it yourself and hope that the data is not corrupt
from any drop in communication with the server during backup.
:tired2: I am not anti MySQL but it is not the best choice for
everyone and open source options should be available to them.
I love the phpBB alternative by
http://www.myupb.com/
it is a complete Forum that does not require a DB.
It looks and works great. KUDOS to any developer
who has non SQL alternatives.
Love to all!!!! :classic2:
