Content applicable to your site. Links are nothing if you have no content For (lame) example, if you had a site about budgerigahs, just having a few pics of a few birds wouldn't bring the search engines. You would need a description of each bird to get the SE bots visiting.

Relate the same to your own site content and you are halfway there
