2 million impressions, unwanted?

solace

New Member
Hi all, for those who remember me, good to see you again.

I have been gone for sometime, busy building my site. Now I am at the verge of closing my site. After being terminated of contract with my exclusive advertiser, I find myself in a middle of an internet slump with no where to go.

With 2 million impressions a month, and more than 60000 unique visitors, and a click through of at least 0.5%, I am unwanted. No, it is not a porn/warez/mp3 site. It is a very popular site on Japanese animation

I have been rejected by all advertisers that seem possible. Allclicks, Fastclicks, Doubleclick, Burstmedia, 24/7, Valueclick, Advertising.com, Clearbluemedia... Agencies which previously INVITED me to join, sending mail after mail even upon my rejection, are closing their doors in my face even though I am willing to take 10 cents a click out of desperation.

For those of you who run your own server and get a similar kind of traffic, you would know what kind of costs I am talking about.

Are there any agencies alive out there which I have not thought of? 2 years of effort, down in the drain because of a mistake ... a mistake to sign an exclusive contract terminated prematurely without compensation because they can't afford to keep me.

Welcome back, solace! :)

Yeah, FreeWebspace.net was also rejected by Advertising.com and Valueclick in December... Can't understand why, but luckily I have found some other better sponsors.

I'm using Flycast, CJ http://www.CJ.com and clickxchange. I would recommend anyone using per click banner networks or crappy CPM networks to try out an affiliate network (CPA and CPS) like CJ.com. Find a site targeted to the audience your site gets or some general free CPA offer. Or see if you can find programs which would target your audience on onresponse.com, linkshare, cyberbounty.com, websponsors etc.

Just a thought, but you might want to try and say that you will only serve each network 200k impressions per month. I have a feeling that some of the networks you mentioned does not want too big sites.

And as I've said many times, don't underestimate text ads for CPA campaigns and CPC (clickxchange for instance).

Most of the CJ.com programs (even textlinks) give me a much higher average CPM on it's CPA programs than the current average CPM I get from Flycast. So why only consider CPM and CPC networks?

Anyone else received the train whistle from Commission Junction? :D

Hi Peo, glad you remember me. Yeah, I figured they can't support all my ads, but I just have too much unsold inventory. I am using flycast, but they have been serving me AdCouncil banners, and I can't access my site registry. I think they are terminating me very soon.

As for CPA, I tried Linkshare, but I ended up very very disappointed. I tried Directleads recently, but am surprised that I have not made a single cent, even though the programs seem to be quite promising (free, lottery and all that). Because Japanese cartoons is exclusive to a smaller paying audience, CPA only works as well as it can with my direct commission affiliation with an online store, which is earning me peanuts ... less than 50 a month.

It looks very very gloomy.

Ok, how about search boxes? people seem to like standardinternet.com

I was also dissapointed with linkshare, but CJ has been really good and they have so many more programs to choose from.

I can login to Flycast but average CPM is much lower than acceptable and my default banner is currently served 90 % of the time.

I might give CJ a try, but not really search boxes, as they weren't rewarding in the past.

As for Flycast, it has been finalized. I just received the termination letter:

"... failing to meet our privacy policy requirements
and for running our banners on pages with user generated content. "

I did have a privacy policy right at the start, and I have absolutely no idea what is user generated content. Bulletin Boards? But Flycast ads aren't there.

I have been asked this before in the past, but I try not to reveal it in public forums unrelated to Japanese animation, because each time I do, I get additional load of spam mails.

Sorry.

solace,
So if you really not getting any advertisers. Use CPA and start selling poster, movie, book, about your site content. If that doesn't work. Try selling it. With that amount of traffic you probably can sell it for alot.

BTW, I don't know why there are so many new sponsor companys coming to business. Internet business are closing in large numbers. Which mean less demand for advertiers. So I won't sign up with any new sponspor company. They gonna pay you $.10 CPC and you gonna get many default banner of there site.

Just like clearbluemedia, they were sending there default banners until they drop the minium CPC to $.10

i got the whistle too!

Anyways, solace, seeing as you have 2,000,000/month, why not try the goto 50-50 (50% of the searched terms). Then find high-paying related terms, and you're most likely gonna get $.4/click if not more...

hmm...
btw, i expect 10% commission for this tip ;)

I use also flycast and because my site is not written in english I do also get quite much default banner ads

I do also have CJ, so I've made it so that I apply CJ-ad code to the flycast default-banner code. It seems to work fine... Of course I have to change the flycast default banner code about once a week because other wise only one ad is shown all the time...

I got a train whistle too :) I really like CJ, but they have so much of a selection that it takes forever to find the programs you want to run. Sponsorships.net is also pretty good also, right now internet advertising is going down the hole and its hard to make any money without selling products or services directly. You may also want to try to find an online store that sells japanimation clothes and merchandise and become an affiliate and get like 10% or whatever of the stuff that people buy from them through you, just make sure that they aren't going under any time soon.

I heard from a friend, that sometimes you can make more money, if you try to sell your ads within an "EBay-Auktion"...

Maybe it will help you, too ?

a whistle is an object you blow on, and it makes a whistling noise. Thought they had that everywhere by now, even in australia...

lol... we have whistles, and train whistles down here. But we have no CJ.com Train Whistles, at least I don't. So where does this mystery whistle come from on CJ.com?
