Dear All,

Thanks to the webmasters of FreeWebSpace.net for giving free webhosts like me the opportunity to advertise their services in a dedicated forum without making a nuisance of ourselves by trying to market in other forums.

http://www.5GBFree.com is offering:
* 5GB Free Web Space (hence the name!)
* 10 MySQL Databases/Database Users
* FTP Uploads
* PHP Scripting
* No forced adverts
* You can run adverts on your own site

If you have any questions, please do let me know. I'd also be very interested in hearing anyone's marketing ideas for promoting the site further.

Thanks and best wishes,
Rob List

Hello there,

Thanks for your message.

It's currently 20GB, though this can be reviewed on a site-by-site basis.

In a nutsheel, it's set to 20GB incase people upload tons of large files and "leech". If you're running a genuine site, this amount can be set as high as is needed.

Cheers,
Rob

Hey there,

Sure do - it's http://yourname.5gbfree.com

Thanks for this feedback - it's really useful. I took another look at the site and thought "woah, you know what, it doesn't mention subdomains anywhere".

Wonder how many users didn't sign up because of this, but just didn't tell me.

Thanks again,
Rob

safe mode

hi Robbeh,
juz a question,
i've created a free hosting account frm yr site, but my phpNuke CMS just woudn't work properly wif the safe mode on,
would u be able to turn it off upon request?

>>would u be able to turn it off upon request?<<
On request I can turn safe mode off. No worries.

>>Do you allow .htaccess files to be uploaded?<<
Yes, you can upload this - but not above wwwroot.

Hope that was useful :)

Cheers,
Rob

Just signed up,the specs looked good,the site seemed fast,in fact it seemed like the perfect freehost... but you are false advertising,the "* No forced adverts" isnt true,there is a huge ad for your 5gb site at the bottom of every page. If you have ads you should say so,before people sign up.

A huge ad? By default, there is a single line of text at 12pt size, which isnt really "huge"!
This can be switched off, simply log in and ask our support team to do this for you no problems.

Check out one of our members:
http://ptfo.5gbfree.com/
and you'll see absolutly no adverts.

Hope that clarifys things.

You may upload .htaccess (ask support if you're having trouble). We do allow them, just not above wwwroot.

Cheers,
Rob
