Where to advertise?

I have advertised my free host on a few sites already and I was wondering if anyone could tell me some other good places to advertise.

Word of mouth with the people in your local area is a good start! If you design a site for a company, they will usually give you a nice annual payment for their hosting too!

I'd say, ask your free hosting users to plug your free hosting service on their websites. That way, you get more exposure to a wider range of people.

The best form of advertising is word of mouth, especially free hosting. People will trust their friends when they're saying "it's reliable" not a person who's trying to advertise.

I just started a free hosting business, and since it's a free hosting business, it isn't hurting me any if they go to another host! So, I could trade links with you if you want? I will place a link to your free hosting business on my free hosting site if you'll place a link on your site somewhere that leads to one of my other websites? That would help the SEO of both of our websites too! Not my free hosting site, but maybe one of these>

If you're interested, let me know in a PM and we can work something out!

If not, best of luck to you!

This is what's always worked for me: listings in free hosting directories, posting on webmaster-related forums (signature link), word-of-mouth. I have found (through trial and error!) that there really is no need to spend money on paid advertising (though it can help jump-start growth).

Try to exchange links with high page rank sites which will certainly get more traffic in your website.

Advertise locally. Everyone likes something free. As long as you're reliable you'll have nothing to worry about. :)

^^ That's interesting. I've never though of local advertising for a free host, but you are probably right - it'd be wildly successful!

Probably. Probably More sucessful in things like stores, schools, local band concerts.

Also you couild make a youtube video.

Local advertising and word of mouth are your best friends.

If you treat your customers well - very well. They will spread the word like wildfire.

I'm experiencing it again for the second time :)
