Tips on improving the speed of a computer

Take the shortcut, no need to uninstall the programs just turn 'em off. =)

- Start
- Run
- Type msconfig
- Click on the "Startup" tab
- Turn EVERYTHING OFF (except for printer drivers, if anything sounds like its your printer leave it on so you can print)
- Restart your PC

You'll notice a faster bootup time, and your PC will be running smoother.

Also you make sure and Defrag n all that like the rest of those guys said.

I would uninstall Symantec's anti-virus software. Though it is decent at what it does, it slows down a computer terribly.

It is terrible software. That is definitely slowing your computer down. At the very least, turn off the "real time scanning". If you depend on that to stop you from getting infected, you are already screwed. Download a suspicious file? Right-click, scan. Then run it. No need for the "just-in-time scanning".
