I've been loking for away to turn streming media (such as a ram file from a server) to an mp3 file. I have RealPlayer7, RealJukeBox FinalEdition, as well as Winamp. But I can't find away to save streaming media in any format that I can later turn into an mp3. Please help.

Hey,

The only 2 ways I know how to do this "save media for later use" is if ir's a "ram" file right clicko nthe link and goto "SAVE TARGET AS" and save the file in a directory you will remember as soon as you downlod it should take less then 3 secs. Open that file you just downloaded with NOTEPAD or any other TEXT editor. the link is there for the direct rm file. copy the link paste it to your browser and it should start downloading the "rm" file now you have the rm file on your computer for later use. The other way thisis only if you want it ni MP3 is fallow the directions i just gave you goto a software site and look for a converter thatwil change a rm to wav and then get a wav to mp3 convertor and you be set with the MP3 file. I hope this helped in some way it's late and kinda out of it. But good Luck!

Also, some streaming media such as quicktime saves the file to your temporary internet items folder. Just get it there and use a program to convert it.

Actually, there's a script at http://cgi.resourceindex.com/ that you can get to stream mp3 files automatically. No changing to RealAudio, making RAM text files, or any of that useless bullshit. You set the script with the file name and link to the blah.cgi?id=### file and it does the rest.

D'Oh! Sorry, I read that wrong... Why not just download the file from Napster, iMesh, Gnutella, Scour Exchange, or any of the file sharing programs? Or go to http://mp3.box.sk/ and search for a FTP download site?

The Problem is that it is not a mp3 file. It's on a server, that hosts thousand of real media concerts. The one that I want is about 2hours long. I've tried to download the entire file but can't. All I want is to convert .rm files to wav so i can then convert it to mp3. Why should it be that hard?

why? because the use of streaming media is to prevent you from actually obtaining the file... Some freaky copyrights stuff, which is also the reason napster and mp3.com got sued.
