Small issue with Avast Antivirus

try disabling the firewall and if that doesn't help, re-enable it and disable application control. This will help pinpoint the issue.

I just tried this and it didn't solve the issue either. I am really stumped. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled aim, but no good.

I guess it did not configure correctly the first time around, as when I uninstalled Kaspersky AIM worked just fine, then I left it running when I reinstalled and now everything seems to be on track.
