Well you gotta figure it all in....
It plays video games, DVDS, CDS, MP3s....
Actually if you wait until about April or so, its suppose to go down below $200 -- says Sony.
I'm going to wait until I get my tax return check to get one... My husband wants one.... We're getting a huge check this year... so a couple hundred dollars isn't going to break the bank..

I'm still kicking myself. I was in Walmart around 9:30p the night PS2 came out, buying a CD for the drive home. I didn't even know what was going on, just that a group of people were standing around for some reason blocking all the Country CDs. The store only had like 25 I guess, but there were only probably 15 people in line at the time. I just shook my head at them, not a gamer myself, and went home.
Then the next day, friggin things are going on ebay for $1500+. If I would have had half a brain, I would have stood in line for just a couple hours (I could even preview all the CDs they had or something), bought one, and sold it the next morning, and made a nice $1200 profit in two days. Could have probably bought a new Raq, maybe made a college payment!
Oh well.

I played one an just no.
Well, the isp I work for is owned by a vedio store. So I get free movie rentals and all that(so if you ever want to know what a good movie on vedio is just ask) but any way's I get free games and systems. And played the ps2 and was very very disappointed. The main reason if becuase the graphics where now where neer where they should be for the power.
I guess thats becuase its impossible to program for. But, the graphics couldnt even rival the dreamcast for right now.
I also played some ps1 games on it and with the antialising it didnt do much. It actually locked up twice while I played resident evil 3.
Also I played unreal tournament and it was no where near the graphics that my computer can produce(celeron 533 (overclocked to 600) 160meg ram pc 100, stealth III graphics card. And it was really hard to play with the dual "crap" controller.
The controller, err, well its just like the psx's but a bigger l2 and r2 buttons. The rumble if off centered. I dont know if it was just that conroller I used or not but it was very anoying. Also the buttons are supposed to be analog but I could not tell, I wasnt able to play grand tourismo, or any racing game.
The system well I just dont like it, the power button is in the back. and there is a reset button and a eject button on the front to get a disk out properly you got to hit the reset then the eject button really fast. Errr I just hate it. Oh well, I got my computer for now to hold me off untile the game cube.
Well all I would say is that unless you want to pay 300 dollars for a dvd player then go for it.

Support Nintendo?! Ha! Buying a N64 was the worst mistake I ever made. The ratio of good games to bad ones is like 1:325. Yet, I've got a PSX and it's great, games are cheaper (why the hell did they use carts on N64? They lost Squaresoft over that, can you say "dumb-ass-mistake"?) because they're on CDs, hell, now with PS2, PSX games are like $10-$20 at Target that's a steal! As far as Xbox goes, it'll blow everything away.... TECHNICALLY SPEAKING, but it will end up dying due to lack of third party support IMO.

Nice umm no, actually most games that come out for the n64 are good games. Mostly becuase of all the in house companys. Yes, nintedo lost squaresoft but look now sony is loosing support for one of the same reasons that the n64 did. They are very hard to program for. That is also whey most of the thrid party games for the n64 were not as good, they didnt know how to program for the like the in house companies. But nintendo can rely on there in house and 2nd party to keep the aflote but sony has nothing. And now they are going to make the same mestake.
Now for the x-box, well ok it should be powerfull, and I would like to mention NONE OF THE VIDEOS ARE REAL TIME, so all that, that they have shown proves nothing. My wife works at a Walmart and there are 4 PS2's on layaway...and I got dibs on the first one that misses a payment....hahaha! You will be seeing mine on Ebay! I will be sure to snag Xbox or Gamecube if there is to be a shortage on them also, and Nintendo is notorious for sending out shortages...
