Interesting - what did dell say it will do? Eversince I stuck in the 2.4 chip in there I've had this strange high pitched noise coming out of that machine.. may be, could be this..

I think I need to now order a new set of:

Fan
Heatsink
AC/DC board
BirchBlue Palm Rests
Keyboard - the dirt on this thing is incredible

My friend had the factory 2.4 and the heatsink was exactly the same, I also noticed the the physical temperature of the hard drive, CPU, and mainboard, didn't increase after reducing the fan usage.

IE, I set the fans to run on "low" at all times, fan 1 "low, fan 2 "low".
Then, at 150 or so degrees, fan 1 "high" fan 2 "low".
I don't think it ever increases from there.

If I manually set Fan 1 and Fan 2 to "High" It's no Cooler than my above settings. Odd?
 
I have 5 fans in my gaming case, it actually keeps the cpu about room temperature!:)
my laptops fans are reasonably quite, considering its power, and its heat dosn't stop you reproducing either!:D
