new redirection service?

Just wondering what you all think. I have found a short foreign domain that I think would work well in a free redirection service (like you.web.cc). I was wondering if you all feel like there are to many or if the prices of real domains made this service usless.

Also what host would allow me to do this on their server. I have found 8 more names that look good. Also has anyone made money or gotten lots of traffic for this service?

theres always a market for this as around 50% of net users just make personal pages. So thats a hel of a lot of users to grab.

Make your urls catchy. im starting one up now. And as a difference im using a freeware script at first whilst writing one in either php4 and mysql or in perl with more features. I hope to offer a co-branding service with mine.

what aspect of the service is co-branded. using your domain or with others. sounds interesting.

What i intend todo is similar to what they do at excelland with hosting. But as a re-direction service. I'm not sure if its been done by anyone if it has i've not seen it anywhere. I'd take the strain of the bandwidth but unfortunatly id have to place banner ads on the co-branded service to make some money back.

The person who co-brands would maybe get a percentage of the banner ads. I know banners dont make much money anymore so maybe youd need lots of re-directions and clicks to make a dollar. But im thinking of doing this on a big scale with possible the view to it being a full blown business just depends on what the bank manager says .

I wanted to play around with subdomain redirection and was wondering whether it was possible to offer such a service without having a web page with a static IP...

It won't work without a static ip for some reason i've tryed it on various accounts only works with a static ip address.
