For those that don't know the sign with the black stripe = the national speed limit (70mph)

And the red circle with a 30 in is a 30mph speed limit :)

in actual fact, the speed limit on THAT road in the picture would be 60mph. National speed is 70 on dual lanes, and 60 on single lanes.

Close.. it's 70 on a road with a central reservation. Most dual lanes have one, but not all - and some single lanes have one.

But yeah, it'd be 60 on that road.

On the interstate?!

Yes, on the Interstate.

It's 70-75 in Alabama, about 55-60 if you're on the interstate traveling through B'ham.

So; the scheme is 70 until the car passes the sign then it immediately changes to 30? What happens then? Cop/Officer pulls you over and asks if you saw the sign? You say it was 70, but it's showing 30?

No. Speed camera automatically catches it, no cops involved.

Odd...around Charleston, SC its 50-65. Then, around Summerville, SC its 65. Around Columbia its 65. Where the hell do you live that its 70?

The sign with the black stripe means it's National Speed Limit (60-70). When people see it, they think it's 60-70, but when they pass it, it turns around and shows 30, allowing the speed camera to capture it. Lol.
