kloxo, openbasedir?

Anyone here got any experience with kloxo (formally lxadmin)?

I'm looking to start a free host using it as a base and I wanted to see what others experiences have been. Also, if users are not being run as individual users on the OS what does that mean for safemode (It's being removed from PHP anyway)?

Thanks!

i do not have much experience with kloxo.
only used a few times when i was testing it in my own PC.
it seems like quite complete with those basic features that a hosting users will need.
the only thing is, i'm not sure all the exploit is fixed already or not.

Safe Mode ensured that the owner of a file and the owner of the script that is executing that file are the same. In an NTFS environment this is not a threat, since NTFS itself provides that security. In ext3 filesystems you would just have to make sure that the file permissions are set up in such manner that files can only be executed by the owner (chmod).

As for Kloxo, I'm not personally a big fan. I recommend Directadmin, it's cheap, not filled with useless functions and gets the job done.

CS_Squad, the vulnerability I assume your talking about (the one that lead to the owners suicide) was actually his gmail getting compromised. Not that there arn't issues though.

Thanks for the advice, I'll have to look into a NTFS setup.

I'm not a huge fan either, the source is a mess (it's all PHP, seriously). But it's incredibly lightweight, and its that or layeredpanel for the scale I'm looking at.

@CS Squad I do not agree with you totally. Kloxo sometimes has advanced features built in. Like limit emails per user, shell access options etc...
Kloxo is good if you don't have much money to invest in buying a cpanel licence ;) But cPanel is better!

@sep I think cpanel is better even the licence cost is high. It has more features than DirectAdmin.

@eSupun,
i just used kloxo for a while only, so didn;t have much chance to totally explore it.
:)
since everyone say that it is safe and good, then i assume it is safe to use then
:)
