I need free host with IP!

That's not going to happen. IPs cost money and I have NEVER seen a FWP give them away (some paid hosts don't even give you a dedicated IP). Why do you need one anyway?

I think i'll give my reply to most people who asks for free webspace in this message, as I don't really feel like replying to each one individually. I'll try to be as nice as possible...

You aren't likely to find a host like this. I've seen people asking for free host with everything from unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth, no ads, free ip (btw, thanks to the people who explained how IPs work on an earlier post by me, I now understand how IPs work for the most part), host for warez/roms/porn, etc...

The reality of the situation is, providing any of those costs the host money. Everyone on the internet expects to receive all these services for free, no questions asked. Question is, how do you think they can afford to pay for this?

I'm quite sure everyone would love to offer all those services for free to their members, but the reality is that they can't. These services do cost money, and they have to pay for it somehow. I won't get into the 'unlimited space/bandwidth' argument, cause we all know theres no such thing as unlimited, and we all know that people who ask for this mean 'reasonable' space/bandwidth.

IPs do cost money and I doubt anyone could afford to give them plus webspace away for free, and cause IPs have to be from the same provider that gives the webspace from my understanding (so they can be mapped to the users directory on the machine I guess? I donno, I just know they do have to be from the same provider), its unlikely you'll find this.

There are some services who provide some of these servides for free though, such as crosswinds, who used to provide unlimited space/bandwidth/and pop3 email accounts for free with no ads (perhaps why my email there is so slow? :) Anyways, when people DO provide some of these services for free, most people seem to be too busy to click on even 1 banner on their site while they are there. Just think, 1 click gives THEM money so they can continue to provide you these free services, but you instead don't click them because it may take a whole 5-10 seconds from your precious time to do so (and we can't have that, now can we?).

My suggest to everyone: Think of what your needs are in a fwp, and try to find one that comes as close as possible to matching them. For example:

If you run a personal site, which tells about your interest, etc... and has afew pictures, then you might try a host like portland. I know they have a fairly small limit on bandwidth, but if you only have afew simple html documents and pictures (which is essentially what most personal sites would consist of), thats perfect for you.

If you need alot of space, try searching for a free host that allows more space and less features. For example, if you have a website that needs approx. 20MB space, look for a webspace provider that'll give you 25-30MB space, which allows some room for growth.

No metter what host you choose, everyone will have some good features and lack other features to make up for it. some are ad free, some provide alot of space, some offer better speed, and some are more reliable. As I said, you should take into consideration what you'll really need and use before asking/searching for it. Also, you can get a free website with more than one host, and link them together (Example: If you need alot of space, a host thats not likely to shut down, and the ablity to run a custom CGI script or two, you could try hosting your site at NBCI, while hosting your CGI script at a place like portland).

Thats just my opinions and how I see things though...

Under the next best option is to pay for one... I've never used them but Digital Space is only $3 per month (one breakfast at McDonalds) and they say that you get a permanent IP address.

Where can I find a free webspace provider in english that will give me at least 10mb?? I don't want any ads and i've tried using a search..... I just want to make a collective, because I have a couple webpages now.... Someone please reply telling me where I can find a fast speeded, free webspace provider!! ::Before I die and grow old please!!::

FWP

Im not sure if f2s.com is still aroud or accepting applications but they had a great service with no ads, php and a subdomain. I havent heard about them in a while. Datablocks used to be good but they arent accepting new ppl.

Do not use f2s.com

I would recommend you don't use f2s.com. Everyone who signs up right now seems to get put on the ever so popular "Server 33." That server has so much downtime and unstability right now that users are getting frustrated right and left. (trust me, I was one of them) I was determined to try to find a web host with no ads, but the ones I found were completely unreliable. I have two sites on GeoCities and I know most people say "Gag" but to be quite honest, Geocities has been the most reliable server I have been on. (one of my sites has been on it for over a year) However, you do get spammed alot. I hope this helped--Good luck!

'cause somebody wanted the URL to Digital Space.

F2S was good for me except for their FTP, they disconnect me too quickly when I'm idle for a short while (I guess it must've been like 30 min or so :) ). I signed up a few years ago, got put on server 26 (thank god) and it's pretty nice. Always been stable for me.

So the next time you diss F2S, be sure to say which server you're complaining about. =)

Get LeapFTP. You can idle untill the server connects you because it notices that you ARE idling. Some servers don't do this. For example, SpacePorts. I had a 3½ HOUR ftp session because I left and forgot to disconnect.

Is LeapFTP freeware, shareware, or adware? If you have a full, registered copy, would you mind giving me da reg num? :p Just kidding, Chicken...
