Building a new computer...

I will be going off to college in less than a year and I'd like to build a new computer to take with me. I have a lot of experience using computers and doing things like webpage design and a little programming, but I've never built a computer before and I'd like to learn. In particular I'd like to know what components to buy and where to get the best deals on these components. I'll need help with actually putting the computer together also since I have never done this before. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciated it. Thanks!

P.S. Are there any good websites out there for newbies like myself?

http://www.newegg.com (Very low prices, I got 1.4 Althon, Mainboard, and RAM for under $300)

Well, for once in my life, i agree with Giancarlo. http://newegg.com is a great place for computer parts.

http://www.ubid.com is another good place. You'll find some great deals there.
