and their simple FAQ

Please find below the answers to the questions you may have about our Website Hosting Plan only. Alternatively, send us an email for more information. Thank you.

Q: Can you please tell me if that the deal you are running till the end is $14 US for a one off or is that recurring on a monthly basis?
A: No. After you open an account, it goes for life, as long as you don't request more than 250MB of space or 5000MB bandwidth.

Q: Is this fee per domain hosted with you?
A: Yes.

Q: How much does it cost to transfer my domain name to and away from your company?
A: Nothing

Q: When I sign up, how long does it take for the account to be active?
A: Whithin the next 24 Hours. Even if you pay by cheque.

Q: Also are there any type of reseller deals you have?
A: No, not yet.

TC Tan - they have been mentioned a couple of times recently. So far we know that it's OK to change domain name later and that they will keep the UNIX hosting together with the NT.
Yes, it's hard to get what it's all about Either something big or something fishy.
I'm going to give them a try anyway. I'm just waiting for them to answer a couple of questions.

Post the questions and their answers once you get the reply.

:D OK. I've hit the signup button but I haven't got the confirmation email yet.

Here is what I know.

The company is in Clapham, England. Their business idea seems to be some world wide directory thing. Not much is ready at their site, so it's hard to tell if it's good . The server also seems to be in UK. I've pinged them. Either they are pretty fast or there is a cork somewhere on the way in UK. I've just done it a couple if days so it doesn't really show anything at all.

lastactionhero found out that you can later use the account with another domain without any fee for making the change.

Me they have told this:

UNIX will still be available once they install NT. They will run parallel systems and it will be possible to sign up for UNIX later on too. For the rest I'll quote them:

meow: How many sub domains am I allowed?
directoris: It's unlimited. We will give you 50 megs per
subdomain. Also, you will be able to choose the amount of bandwidth you wish
to allocate to each of your subdomains. Don't forget that the total amount
of monthly bandwidth is 5000 Megs per month. New since 2 days, we also give
you a free control panel per subdomain.

meow: Are there any file type restrictions? Is it OK to put any file up for
download? (I'm not referring to illegal or
porn.)
Directoris:- No file type restrictions but please avoid files larger than 1Gb.

Support has been fast and friendly.

And you guys wonder why I wanted to sign up before I told you? ':p' ':p' ':p'

This does seem too good. For all I know they can be down in a month. On the other hand this is a time limited offer. Maybe next month they will charge a more normal price. At the price of 2 pizza's with coke I'm willing to take the risk. They MUST be better than Portland. ;)

I believe they are with Donhost in England. That usually means they are "fair" on speed and uptime... about the same as one of the earlier f2s accounts.

Just want to keep you updated...
Signup was in fact confirmed immediately. I didn't ahem...notice the mail so there I was, checking and waiting all night. Today I managed to get the domain released from Portland in less than an hour. That must be a RECORD.

So far so good. Love the control panel. No blahblah. Clean and nice. Excellent help file with no nonsense and easy to understand. From the look of things in there they are not planning on leaving. They have some ready made scripts lying about but I haven't checked them yet. PW protected directories and error pages. For the lazy I guess. URL submitter to major search engines. Nighly updated stats. Don't see no raw log file but I haven't been everywhere yet.

I must say my impression is very good so far. Things have been smooth. Everything, both the site and support is informative and no hype at all. They haven't even tried to sell me additional services. I LOVE IT!!!!

One happy meeeeeeeooow!! '':p'':D'':D'':D'':p''

meow,
Please keep posting on speed and uptime. I've been tracking an account that someone has with them for about a month now. So far it has shown about 96% uptime and netmechanic checks have rated them "fair" and "poor". I'd like to know more on your experience before I transfer a domain to them. Also, have you noticed if setting up subdomains are in the control panel or do you have to e-mail them?
Thanks.

Funny, I was in there digging around searching for exactly that when I saw your post.

I haven't found anything yet, But from their answer above doesn't it seem likely that they should be managed in the CP? Maybe not added yet. They ought to have raw log too, don't you think?

I'm glad to keep you updated. I will use the account just as a playground for now though. When I have read through everything I'll ask them about what may be unclear. So please feel free to add to my list.

BTW when I pinged them I noticed they seemed either speedy or the transfer hanged somewhere on the way. If it hanged there were also some packets lost. Oh, and it is Donhost. :)

As far as having a raw log and other features it looks too good to be true... I figure, like you, it would be just an extra fun area for $14. I can't imagine someone running this particular server ongoing with support for nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if it get's slower and support fades away. I do know that when I saw their original post on WebHostingTalk he was talking about this being an introduction to their service. Supposedly, we would all be so happy with them that we would refer others to their paid hosting.

*lol* You have been holding out on this, haven't you? ;-)
Thanks for mentioning that they have said it's an introduction offer. I've been suspecting that (well, they say time limited). From the look of their site they are definitely in this for business.
For me this is ideal. I've never paid for hosting in my life. My thing is plain HTML, mostly poking my nose in other peoples boring stuff. Now I want to do something for myself and learn some scripting. Playground is the word. If it turns out to be a hit - fine. If not- sad but hopefully it was fun and I won't shed tears over the money.

I even love the colors in there! Thank heaven for England. Some sense and moderation is sooo refreshing. Have you noticed that you can choose "lord" as your title in the sign up form? God save the queen! :D

Do they provide detail analysis of web site traffic?

Meow, I just wondering whether they provide you the detail analysis of the web site traffic? By the way, do you think their service is good in term of serive and support?

You might run a server check through NetMechanic or someone before you sign up.... they have not been looking so great lately. The latest tests have been showing constant "poor" ratings. You might be throwing your $14 away.

The site statistics are detailed about what files have been hit and so on, but there are no user details as OS, browser, domain. I'm not sure this is the final state though. I used support only before I signed up and as said they answered fast and gave clear answers.

I and a friend of mine in US who also got an account there have kept pinging them to and fro. The impression from before I signed up remains - either they are fast or there's a cork somewhere. About the same result from US and Europe. Only one really bad day so far.

The other day pinging them was disastrous (the bad day)- but the pages were still accessible fast enough with the browser. I also used NetMechanics. They reported excellent result, when my own pinging was relatively bad for the same hours.
I don't know about this whole ping business - I've noticed that when f2s is slow as molasses they still can ping good. Anyone has an explanation?

Bottom line - not that I have used the account enough to be sure about anything, but I like them and feel comfortable so far.

They have great support, but right now I have the feeling they are just a fly by night company like some others. They've been down since yesterday.

The only problem is that they have to set up subdomains for you as opposed to wildcards. Duh.

That's funny - I was pinging them as I wrote the above. Were up then. But are down now. Well let's see how they handle it. ;)
BTW do you have an account there?

Yep I signed up there just to try out their accounts, seemed they had some weird practices, but as I said, they "had" good support until they kept going down.
