Yes, you really do get all that! :)

Have you reached the "Junior Member" ranking on their board? If so, could you tell me how many posts that is?

I don't trust AMZ one bit anymore.
I viewed my domain one day, only to find that they had it forwarding to another domain, without an ygiven reason.

And everything works.

The only thing you have to do, is to put a text visibly on EVERY of your pages

it is to good to be true its not going to last forever they are giving most of the features of paid hosting

sooner or later it might vanish like all of other free use to be good hosts

Junior Member is 20 posts ... most users reach that in a
day or two

That is for DOMAIN hosting mind you. If you don't have
your own domain and just need hosting, then you only
need 10 posts to get hosting.

The DOMAIN accounts requiring 20 posts have a lot more
features than the regular accounts though.

It is NOT "too good to be true" and we do offer all those
features. Also, we have constructed the FREE hosting
project in such a way as to offer maximum features but
not be swamped with millions of applications and kids
wanting to learn cgi, etc.

We are actually a PAID hosting first and foremost. The
FREE hosting is a newer project but will be around a
long time and we no plans to get rid of it.

There are requirements and processes deliberately put in
to keep the web hosting applications and user
increase down to a reasonable rate and to make it
more difficult to be accepted for web hosting. For
those users that get an account though, we have
had many compliments and most think the hoops
we make you go through to get your account and
fully support the idea.

We have incorporated application requirements such
as requiring forum participation to obtain hosting. You
also have to put in text links on every page of your
web site. Also, we only open applications for FREE
accounts about one week every month which also
keeps things easily managable.

And there are limitations and restrictions in the accounts
as well that the paid hosting accounts are not subject to
such as:

No Archive File Formats such as ZIP, RAR, etc.

No MP3 audio, video, or other multimedia files.

There are limitations to the scripts you are allowed
to use on your site, etc.

We are also much more concerned with maintaining a
quality hosting service than getting new signups. We
would shutdown the signup of new users for the benefit
of our existing users before we would allow the service to
degenerate like other hosting providers.

If you would like to review our policies ... which incidentally
is VERY STRICTLY enforced ... feel free to read our policy
page at http://www.amzweb.net/tos.php

Are you posting in the forums? http://www.amzweb.net/forum/

I think you need to reach 10 'meaningful' posts in their forums before they approve your application.

If you have posted in their forums you can check the status of your web application here

sad... :( :( :(

Wow  I wonder what closed geographic region means:confused:

Well, I guess closing geograhical regions is just the way they have to survive.

Actually it is because we have several THOUSAND web
hosting accounts currently active from China and
Southeast Asia and we were getting new signups from
that region at a rate of about 600 per day.

We went ahead and closed accepting applications from
that region to give people from other places in the
world a better chance at getting a web hosting account.

In example, it is difficult for someone from France to signup
for a web hosting account when there is 800 applications
from China waiting in line in front of his, etc.

Once the membership is a little more balanced geographically,
we will re-open applications for asia and China.

If you like, I can override your application REJECTION and
get you a web hosting account ..... assuming that your
location is the only reason you don't qualify.

We can't do that for everyone because Asia and China
applications are officially closed right now ....

However, I'll make an exception in your case if you would
like and allow that one application to process.

You still have to meet the forum posting requirements
to obtain web hosting.

Why is that?

Because he mentioned that he had been waiting several
weeks before he saw his status that he was rejected.
Really, the rejection should stand per current policy
but I am just trying to be a nice guy.

We'll extend the offer to you as well if you've
received a previous REJECTED status too.

How about this .... anyone that has posted to this
specific thread PRIOR to the posting message can get an
override to the "geographic block" upon request.

Fair Enough?
