is this ok for building a basic siteos i've heard about it but i dont know what it is like can you give me some advice please.

should i use or not?

I made a big speech about 50Megs several weeks ago.

They charge for subdomains. I can easily, go into my DNS, create a subdomain, enter the info, and click add record. IT'S NOT THAT HARD! You enter the subdomain info, it adds dns record, there you go. Simple as pie. You pay for the subdomain THEN your site is bombarded with numerous ads and pop-ups?! That's really wrong.

I suggest some place else. Search the directory or look at the host FAQ to get some ideas.

Plus most domain hosts will accept a http://uni.cc domain...

You never know until you try it, but you need to pay for either a domain or a sub-domain - am I right?

My old HS' band site is on 50Megs, when I visited that site I was bombarded with popups, and there was that damn banner at the top of the page saying 50megs free hosting. if you pay for the subdomain, it should be paying for hosting.

$6 for a subdomain? I would accept less than $0.01 to create a subdomain in my DNS for someone.

Oops...double post... Kinda weird how they charge for a sub-domain. :angry2: That's just not right!

Web1000. Oh please. They're notorious for screwing their hostees over with porno related money making schemes.

Web1000 and 50Megs, off my list to reccomend to other people, along with Tripod UK. :angry2:

EDIT: If you don't want to pay the $6.99 (WHO WOULD?!) for a subdomain at 50Megs, try these hosts:

... I need some good hosting. 50 MB webspace, php and not to little bandwith. Host.sk is very slow, a bit to slow for my website. It would be great if somebody could host me.

Thanks

http://www.host.sk/ (no-ads, if you can stand the speed)
http://www.spaceports.com/ (banner frame or pop-up)
http://www.tripod.co.uk/ (Flash/JS banner)
http://www.4gigs.com/ (text-link)
http://www.hostultra.com/ (pop-ups)

If you are just starting out, try geocities, they seem really reliable or Netfirms. :smile2:

Um, since when did Geocities and Netfirms offer 50 megs webspace for free?

Uhmm............... I though HistoryGirl was talking about 50megs.com, she didn't say she "specifically" wanted 50MB of webspace? - hey, if she was "building a basic site" who would've known she wanted 50MB of webspace? :smile2:
