Just discovered that Portland.co.uk locks your site *permanently* once you exceed your bandwidth quota (100 MB/month), asking you to pay ₤14.10 (for an additional 1 GB of bandwidth). Okay, you get what you pay for, but that's blackmail. Isn't it enough to block the site once it goes over the...
Hi,
I need some opinions about the newest version (1.5.1) of my phpWWWBoard, which is a database-less WWWBoard-like message board written in PHP.
Features:
- threaded message board
- post either using a regular form or a WYSIWYG editor
- Smilies
- BBCode support
- member...
An email from Portland Sales:
With immediate effect, Portland Communications Ltd can no longer support PHP on our Freeweb Accounts.
A small minority of users have continued to abuse the Free service and this is no longer viewed as acceptable.
If your website relies on PHP please...
I know there are quite a few services that offer remotely hosted bulletin boards. But what about simple, old-fashioned threaded message boards...like for example the good old WWWBoard, or preferably, a little better perhaps?
http://www.server.com
comes to my mind. Not bad, but not really...
Hi everyone,
please review the latest version of my phpWWWBoard!
Features:
- a simple threaded message board!
- does not require a database!
- server-friendly, fast!
- registration of nicks possible (registered nicks appear in a color of your choice)!
- registered users can edit their...
Just received the following email from Tripod/Lycos.nl:
I don't really speak Dutch, but what I understand is that they closed my account due to "abuse". The funny thing is: I don't have the slightest idea what they mean. All I had uploaded was a simple little message board, merely for...
...next Friday. Just received an email in which they announce this decision. Damn! Their server was pretty fast and reliable. At least they are fair enough to warn their users in advance (which cannot be said about a few other ex-FWP). The search goes on... :confused2
Officially, C2S has a 10 MB file size limit. However, I was never able to upload files > 8 MB. Any attempts to do so inevitably result in a "Page unavailable" error.
Of course there is the possibility to split the files (which is what I'm doing), but nevertheless I'd like to know if anyone here...
Okay, Come2Store's back...that is, the main page shows up again, but the uploads on both servers are still closed. They're asking for donations to buy a third server. It doesn't seem like the ads are covering the costs...and if they rely on donations they'll go down sooner or later :(
The...
Requiescat in pacem. They're gone. I wonder what's the purpose of offering free webspace and then shut down the complete site a week later :confused2 ?

Any good free forum hosting services out there?
If possible:
- fast
- customizable
- no annoying pop-ups please...banners are okay
- not ezboard.com
Thanks for your help...!
Maybe someone knows a solution to this problem. I need
- PHP (MySQL not needed)
- some MB
- either no ads, a banner or a text-link (but no pop-ups/pop-unders)
- FTP
- reasonable speed
I need this for a guestbook and a picture-of-the-day script (clean stuff, nothing perverted or...
http://www.yoursighost.com ---> 404
http://www.come2store.com ---> Uploads closed, downloads almost down, support down ---> on the verge of 404
http://www.streamloader.com ---> bullshit
http://briefcase.yahoo.com ---> no public sharing anymore
many many others ---> 404
The usual problem...
I host a few pages of my site with Lonex.org, because I need PHP for some tasks (guestbook, contact form etc.). Now I noticed I get a 403 when trying to access these pages.
Now I wonder if that's because I've exceeded their bandwidth limit or because my account was deleted? If the latter, I...
I suggest this one for the "Weirdest Hosting Plan 2002" Award:
LowestCostHost.com :D
They offer huge amounts of webspace at very low prices, BUT give you just enough bandwidth to transfer your complete site 1 (one) time per month!
1000 MB space - 1000 MB bandwidth/month
2000...
Could it be Come2Store's file size limit is not 10 MB, but less? I tried about 8904389048504 times to upload a ~9 MB file, but after a few seconds of uploading I always get a "Server or DNS not found"... :confused2
No problems with smaller files (around 6-7 MB). Anyone else who has...
